| NaNo 07 Plot Ideas |
[Oct. 6th, 2007|03:52 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | contemplative | ] | So I guess NaNo is rolling around once again, and I'm breaking out the old deadjournal.
I have a dilemma once again --- I have three plots that I want to write for NaNo but I can't take on the challenge of writing two novels at once because I'm sure all of them will cap out at around 100,000 words. I'm aiming for at least 75,000 without filler this year, so that's going to take a whole lot of effort both at school and at home. I have access to the school computers and a flash drive, so I'll definitely be able to sneak some writing in during the morning, lunch, and computer classes.
Anyway, onto the ideas. This is just for my reference so I have an easier time deciding later on. :D
Iscariot -- Fanfiction! With original characters! Don't scream Mary Sue at me yet.
Voices of the Zombie War -- Voices is probably my new obsession, especially after getting into Max Brooks's books. Probably because I got into Max Brooks's books, actually. It'll be a huge novel with separate but intermingling storylines following the lives of several people as they make it through WWZ. I currently have characters in Europe, the US, South America, the Pacific Islands, and Japan --- I'll have to find some excuses to stick more people in, possibly in the middle east or Africa. This novel will take select characters from all of my created storylines, both original and fanfiction.
The current cast is from planes, Gaia, OHSHC (Iscariot/Elysium), and AF. I'll find excuses to put other characters in here somehow.
six red planes -- Planes is the idea that I came up with right after NaNo had ended last year. It was my original plan for this year's NaNo but I'm not so sure anymore. I need to rework some parts of this so I probably won't do it unless I decide on it early and manage to work everything out so it makes sense.
Planes is set in a dystopic alternate universe in the years following WWII. The Nazis won WWII and seized control of Europe. The world economy is failing because of Nazi control on imports and exports into and out of Europe, and the world has fallen into economic depression. Europe eventually seizes control of Africa, and after that, moves to conquer Asia.
((Okay, I'll come back and edit this later. I don't really feel like writing out plot ideas for the umpteenth time at the moment.)) |

but VERY encouraging. I've resorted to using dirty padding techniques to get my word count up so I don't have to kill myself writing (it also gave me ideas for my next few scenes, hurray), and I'm almost up to 35k. Maybe next year I'll stay on track and not have to use these, but at least I can rest easy tonight? :D; |

Game plan for the Thanksgiving Break:
I will hopefully apply the 6k-words-a-day strategy to Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. That will earn me another 18k in the bucket, and then I'll write up the 2k to get myself to 8k on Friday if I can still function correctly. Over the weekend, I'll get at least 5k written. The other 5k will be spread out over the Monday-Thursday that I have in the remaining week.
Sounds good. Just gotta write 2k tonight. |

Let me just take a moment to say,
DAMN YOU GABRIEL, YOU BISHE-HAIRED SPOTLIGHT HOGGER PUSHING YOURSELF INTO THE CAST OF MAIN CHARACTERS. DAMN YEEEEWWWWW.

I'm proud of myself. XD I'm at 13k right now, but I'm planning to get another 15k by the end of this weekend. Or 13k, now that I've chopped out 2k with a one-hour long word war. |

I HAVE GOTTEN NO WORK DONE IN WEEK TWO.
THIS IS DEPRESSING.
/angstfest
But despite the angsting, I'm going to try and catch up tomorrow and over the weekend. Hopefully. I've got at least 13k to make up though, so this isn't going to be all that easy. BAH.
At least I know where I want my novel to go. Just gotta type it now. |

| [ | mood |
| | gloomy | ] | Writing slump again, planning to dive back into my novel in just a sec. Bleh, it's depressing now that I'm 5k behind, but my friend's atrociously high (at least, to me) wordcount is just an incentive to catching up. Annnnd there's a write-in this Sunday, but I can't make it. :-( Sad. |

| [ | mood |
| | happy | ] | Still 5k off from my daily quota, but I'm catching up. I think I'll be all caught up by the end of this week, if I can't get any more writing in tonight. <3
...I am considering rewriting chapter two of my novel because it bores me to tears. I think I'll keep on going for one more chapter and then go back if it really bugs me that much. |

[Nov. 2nd, 2006|10:20 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | contemplative | ] | Well, I've logged 3318 words since midnight yesterday (started right at 12AM), and I currently can not get to my word document to finish typing down what I wrote at school. I'm planning to start over on my novel anyway, after realizing how gaudy my introduction was, so I suppose I can start my new beginning on my dad's computer and copy it over with a flash drive later. I guess.
Or email it to myself. |
